Get Well

This faux tissue box get well card is a favorite of mine because it is so easy to make. It also folds flat for mailing. When people see it they get excited and note that you could fit one of those mini packets of tissues in them. Ah.... but then it wouldn't lay flat for mailing.
This one does because it is just a few sheets of buns' wipe* tucked in there.

*Buns' wipe also known as loo roll, bum wad, arsewipe, ass napkins, toilet roll, TP or toilet paper; formerly known as last year's Sears and Roebuck catalog.

Triple Threat Ice Cream

I've been having this thing for ice cream lately, which isn't odd given that it has been in the one hundred and teens for temperature, but is odd given the belly ache it gives me. So I decided to make do with paper ice cream (which is sort of like paper dolls, but not really).
I had this card base die cut and decorated with the designer paper lying around for an unnaturally long time so I finally finished it off with my triple threat ice cream. I even made a matching envelope.
The Fine Print: I suspect the die is Sizzix (I don't have it) and the ice cream is DeNami Designs. And I can't eat ice cream because I have no gall bladder and can't eat high in fat foods, not because I'm lactose intolerant. I'm so tired of people giving me that brother-in-arms lactose intolerant buddies high five. Shut up and pass me the cheese.

Minty Moose

I'd forgotten all about this darling card I made at a friend's house until I uncovered it the other day. Here I was thinking this wasn't an appropriate time to share a moose, but then the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge came along and told me it was the best time to share a moose.
And you can't argue with that logic, now can you?!

Mail Bag Monday - June 26

This week's mail started off with a contest participation prize--how fun is that?!
Then these swap cards came in to brighten my week.

Patriotic Pig - TTT03

It's time to play Tic Tac Toe again. This time I went for a diagonal flight from the top to the bottom. My card base is blue, I've wrapped twine (and tied a persnickety bow) and I laid many many rectangular wood planks onto my card.
I was inspired by a card I saw where wood grain paper had been cut into planks and placed on the card. I thought I'd change that up but using different colored and textured woods for mine in patriotic red, white, and blue.

Once my card was done I thought it was rather ridiculous, but in the way that makes you laugh and puts a smile on your face. I call that a win!

Speaking of winning, did you see that I was chosen as a Designer Pick for my last TTT entry? How cool is that!

All Wrapped Up

This weekend brings my big stamp club meeting where we do a themed card exchange. They made the themes more esoteric this year where you have to ponder about what you think it means and how that translates to your card.
This time the theme is "It's a Wrap" which sounds suspiciously movie like but you can also wrap presents or be wrapped up in something and for some reason fish wrappers popped to mind. I decided to layer up my wrappings.
We start with a belly band wrapped around the card, then the inside of the card has a piece of ribbon wrapped around the edge. The image is of tulips wrapped in paper, wrapped with twine.  So there you have it--my take on the swap.

In Your Bowl

Lookie! Lookie! I was soooo proud of myself for making this shaker card without adult supervision. I'm not sure why I get myself so worked up over shaker cards. They aren't nearly as hard as I think they are going to be.

I suspect it is because I learned to do them back in the day when the backing was foam core (like those presentation boards for your kid's science project). Those things were the biggest bitch to cut.

Then I learned foam tape and all the shaker bits stuck to them. Now I know the trick to wipe some baby powder down the sides of the foam tape with a cotton swab to remove the stickiness. And it helps to use quality foam tape, not that old stuff from the dollar store you found in the back of your drawer.

Life in my bowl is awesome!

Tic Tac Toe No. 2

I meant to get off my generous bee-hind and join in the inaugural Tic Tac Toe challenge last week, but it never came together for me. However, I got it together this week for challenge number 2.
I went straight across the middle to create this gray and yellow birthday card. I actually made it for man but decided it was too frilly for the man in question. If I had a hexagon and some wood I could have filled the whole board.

Manic Mail Monday - June 19

It is time to share what the postman brought me this week. The week started off with some patriotism, which is sorely needed around this place (this place being the country).
Then this differently opening card showed up. Black and white with a pop of red always makes my heart happy. That front panel tucks under the flowers popped up on the front.

My friend sent along this sweetie. It had a little cat puzzle inside it which is why it looks rather crushed by the mailing process.
Next these glittery fishies swam by to wish me a happy day and invite me to lunch. I suddenly feel this urge to go vegetarian.
This little note card showed up to brighten my day.  It was a good week!

Thank Yous

A coworker of mine (not that one) asked me some thank you cards for her kids to use. She said they didn't have to be all that because you know kids. They'll look at it once and toss it aside.

I whipped up multiples of these two note cards. They were fun and easy to make and had the added bonus of getting me to use of some of these patterned note cards I have lying around. I seemed to have collected a ton of them during my A Muse days.

Wishing You Well

Sometimes I just want to sit back and color and that is what attracted me to this stamp. I heard others say that it would be perfect for watercoloring. I was even willing to give it a try. But then I was stumped by my new (and presumably better) water brush. I couldn't figure out how to get the water into it.
I've now been given some tips and pointers now so stayed tuned for me to make a big watery mess!

Let's Celebrate

Every day I think, "Oh yeah, I need to update my blog." and every day it doesn't happen. Except today. I'm not sure what went wrong (or right?) that I actually am doing it.
I had my friends make this card at a recent gathering. As soon as I saw this set and all its related parts (dies, designer paper, and embellishments) I knew it had to be mine. I'm so tickled to have it. My friends thought it was okay and weren't nearly as impressed with it as I was.  What's wrong with those people?! I suspect I have to make cards with this set so that they can see the error in their ways.

Monday Mail Day! June 12

So here we go. Here are some swap cards. That third one really confused me though because I opened it and thought, "But I'm not sick... dang, I'm going to have to give this lovely card back." But since it was for a get well themed swap I got to keep it.

Spiffy

I made this card for someone's dad based on a similar card I once saw. I have to say that I am a little heavy handed on that sponge. I think it still works for a nice dude card.  And lookie--matching envelope. How spiffy!

Ice, Ice, Baby

I'm in my office today, so this is an appropriate card. It seems the hotter it gets outside the colder they make the inside. They are starting to freeze the vegetables! (That's us btw).

24 Carrot Friend

Our Extreme Heat Advisory was lifted today so that means we can all wander back outside and do some gardening.

Or just inside the air conditioning and watch the fools play in the dirt.  Whichever.

Three's a Curse

I made this card, well, actually I made multiples of this card with different greetings. Sometimes I do that, where I decide (for whatever reason) that I need a batch of cards.  Then I make a several the same or similar, usually three of them.
And that is where the problem lies... I make a three and I mail one right away, save one as a sample to show my crafting friends, and put the other in my card stash. The sample card often gets used not too much later, after I've shown it off, but that third card languishes in my stash forever because by the time I get around to using it I can't remember who I sent the first couple cards to. I'd hate to send a rerun card to someone.

My online stamp club recently got some new members in it and for that I'm grateful because I have been using these leftover cards to send to them. I know I didn't send that card to one of them.

The Fine Print: Stamps, dies, and designer papers all by Stampin' Up. Would you hate to get a rerun card in the mail? I love to get mail but I am disappointed if I get a rerun. I consider the above reruns even though the greetings are different. Do it up in a different color scheme and then it is no longer a rerun.

Magic Mail Bag Monday - June 5

It's time to share the goodies that the mailman brought my way this past week. A friend of mine suggested I call him a "postal carrier" because I don't know if my mailman is a man or not. Well, I've met him and he is a dude. I mean I didn't check in his pants or anything, but he seemed manly and frankly this gender shit has gone too far.

The Fine Print: It seems so sparse after the last couple of weeks, but I guess every day can't be my birthday (but I do get older every day!).

Bark Less, Wag More

I sent this cute little doggy card to a friend recently. I know you are questioning why a cat person would send a doggy card.
Why indeed, Mom?!
It is because doggy stamps are cute. They don't pant on you, they don't shed on you, they don't chew your shoes or ask you to take you on a walk. Doggy stamps are cool, especially silly ones like this.
