Free Advice: Worth Every Penny You Paid

I have friends who often complain about how they didn't get good sleep at night because their cell phone kept going off.  Being the wise and helpful friend that I am I ask them why they don't turn the @$3% thing off?  Their answer always is, "What if there is an emergency?!" And then they profess shock to learn that I don't have an active phone by my head in the night.

To which I reply that I'm not a doctor, mechanic, bail bondsman or plumber so basically I'm useless to call in the middle of night anyway.  They have professionals for that kind of thing.  Leave the rescuing to the professionals and get some good sleep!

That's my wise, friendly, helpful, free advice of the day.

The Fine Print: My doctor's office sent a text at 1:45 am to remind me of my doctor's appointment today and it didn't wake me up in the night because... well, because I don't have a damn cell phone to start with.  I wonder how many people a night they wake up with those shenanigans?!  Hedgehog stamp by Penny Black, greeting by Paper Smooches, circle dies by Spellbinders, punch by Stampin' Up.

Such a cute card.
Couldn't agree more with your advice. Spent several hours at the airport waiting for a plane Sunday and I was the only person there who wasn't glued to the phone the entire time.

Fabulous card PJ! I thought you'd stamped the background to go with that darling little hedgie! Spike is now doing walkabout during the night here - but he ain't eating the snails quick enough as they're having a real feast on the rhubarb patch (thankfully they only eat the leaves and then leave the red celery alone).

So true about the cell phone (mobile as we call 'em here in the UK). I generally leave mine switched off, can't be doing with such gizmos unless in emergency.

Hugs, Di xx

I, too, turn off my phone at night. If you need me, leave a message. I sleep real good, too. :)

The last time I left it on, Crackberry had activated some new alert feature, and 11:30 pm an alarm went off. I have no alarms in my house. I bolted upright while the cat went airborne, got traction anyway, and fled the room. It was a text message alert that there was flooding and I shouldn't drive. Um, okay. (*#$#*&$^ The next day I opted out of all alerts and now the phone stays turned off in another room. The end.

Oh, nice card, too. :D

Super cute card with that hedgie, and I love the funky sentiment fonts too! Amen to sleeping in a room without a phone! We removed our bedroom phone when the hubs worked 3rd shift over 20 yrs ago and still don't have a bedroom phone! Who needs it?

Great card Judy. Love lady bugs and hedge hogs.(How did they get that bumb name any way?)

Cell phones are only good for Finding your better half in Mega stores, if you fall and can't get up and most important of all to hang two or three from your belt so you look important. In that last case none of them work so don't even try to call.

Okay if there's an emergency? What can you do in the middle of the night? Best to leave the phone off until after Breakfast..Then you would be ready for anything x

We don't keep a phone of any kind in the bedroom. That's what voice mail is for (or answering machines if those are still around). Anyhow...that hedgehog is super cute with that tiny little lady bug. Did you rhyme lady bugs and hugs on purpose?!

I can sleep through anythinggggg. Anything but the 60lb slobbering dogbeast jumping on me. I leave my phone on the nightstand so I remember to charge it - but that's only because it doesn't bother us while we sleep. If it did it would be underwater somewhere I imagine ;)
This is an adorable card! Love that hedgehog - why can;'t they just share the hedge, anyway?

Love this cute hedgie (of course). I was ROFL at your rant on the cells. We are of like minds. Love it when we stand behind someone in the bank line, while the teller waits on them to finish their very important call to tell someone they are in the bank. Hmmmm...NOT! We have phones, but they are for OUR emergencies, not anybody elses. Don't call me, I'll call you. If it's really important, and I can't call your home phone! Not to say I'm in Walmart and found something wonderful. (or equally important trivia!) TFS & letting me know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Hugs
